Reading activity with Mentimeter

 

 

Mentimeter is a very useful tool that we can use for designing activities. It has lots of templates and types of activities and is relatively easy to work with. Of course, to have full access to all the templates and to make presentations with unlimited slides and activities you need to pay a subscription plan, but they have different plans depending on your needs.

In this case, I have designed a reading activity in which I want to work the content "Ancient Egypt" in a class of 6th grade of primary school. A fundamental characteristic of this activity is that it cannot be implemented as homework, so you can only use it in class. I planned it as a presentation and with a small number of activities because I am using the free account with limited features. This can be a handicap, but you can use some features of the free account to interact with students which are the reactions. In this presentation, the true or false questions are going to be answered with the reactions, so we can have feedback from the students and know if they have understood the text. I use two slides, one before the reading, to stimulate the knowledge of the students about Ancient Egypt, and one after the true and false stage to resume the information that they remember about the reading.
